Bonded Metallic Powder Coating
Metallic Powder Coating Services:
Bonded metallics are coatings in which metallic pigments are bonded to the base powder coating. Doing this creates a more even, consistent application, as opposed to dry blend/unbonded, and enables a much better performance once redeemed.
The bonded metallic coating is made by heating the powder coating until the outside gets marginally viscous. The metallic pigments are then added and will cohere to the powder coating particles.
Application:
Because of its special content, bonded metallic powder coatings are primarily used as a decorative coating, with the addition of a clear coat like an Acrylic-based powder coating to act as a top coat.
Kroma Coatings Technology LLC always recommends using a top clear coat to help seal and protect the bonded metallic powder coating. This is to ensure no damage due to weather or corrosion will shorten the coating’s lifespan and diminish the effects of the bonded metallic powder coating.
Used in: Agricultural and construction equipment, bus shelters, lighting fixtures, playground equipment, site furnishings, garage doors, stadium seating, fencing, automotive equipment, wheels and rims, marine applications, and automotive engine parts.
Curing Temperature:
Bonded metallic powder coatings are generally cured at around 350-370 °F.
Handling and Storage:
We always recommend storing in a cool and dry place at a temperature which is lower than 86°F. Higher temperatures could damage the mechanical and chemical properties of the powder.
